The decade between Queen Victoria’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees saw Britain at the peak of its imperial power, cultural achievements, and financial strength. “The Jubilee Years” follows the Queen and the Empire through eyewitness accounts that provide an intimate view of Britain and its Jubilee celebrations a century earlier. Chapters cover Queen Victoria’s family, the complex social mores of Victorian society, recent inventions (e.g. the bicycle, x-rays), and Oscar Wilde's scandal.
