The Cuicocha blanket is created using symbolism of the lake of the gods, Known as Laguna Cuicocha located high up in the Andean Mountains range. It is believed that this lake formed from an ancient volcano is where spirits rest who have transitioned. The diamond pattern symbolizes the lake while the chacana patterns symbolizes the four directions as well as the various plains of existence. This blanket is produced, designed and sold by Kichwa Indigenous artisans and Kichwa families.
