Vintage First Nation Native American Bark, Porcupine Quill and Sweetgrass Basket. 3" diameter by 2.25" height. Hand tinted quill flower lid. This is a beautiful Native American artisan piece in good condition. Possibly Ojibwa, but not confirmed by an expert. Many quills were used in making this beautiful piece. Bark appears to be cherry. Threading is somewhat deteriorated due to age. Lovely combination of natural components- porcupine quill, birch, sweet grass, cotton. Porcupine quillwork is a unique and ancient form of embroidery, particularly associated with Native American tribes in North America.
Please see all photos as they are an important part of the description. Minor damage and two areas of the quills, but one is on the bottom and does not detract from beauty of this piece.
