Famille Rose is a style of Chinese porcelain decoration introduced in the 18th century during the Qing dynasty, characterized by the dominant use of opaque overglaze rose-colored enamels, particularly shades of pink and carmine. The color palette is believed to have been introduced to China by Western Jesuits during the Kangxi reign (1654–1722) but was perfected during the Yongzheng era (1722–35), with the finest pieces often made during the Qianlong period. Famille Rose porcelain was produced at the Imperial kilns of Jingdezhen, involving multiple firings and a special glaze to enhance the brightness of the colors.
