reyn spooner is a pioneer of Hawaiian shirts and is loved worldwide as a representative brand of Hawaii even now, almost 60 years later. The history of reyn spooner began in 1956 when founder Reyn McCullough, who had successfully run a men's clothing store in California and Hawaii, met Ruth Spooner, who was selling custom-made surf trunks on Waikiki Beach in Oahu. Afterwards, the two teamed up, and reyn spooner was born in 1962 at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. A major feature of reyn spooner is the 2,000 types of print patterns that have been accumulated since its founding and the unique blended material called Spooner Cloth, which is 55% cotton and 45% polyester, devised by the founder. It became a status brand of Hawaiian shirts with an innovative method of turning the print inside out to express a washed-out texture. With a formality reminiscent of Ivy style, it continues to incorporate new designs even after 60 years, and is committed to manufacturing with the pride of HAWAIIAN TRADITIONALS.
