First edition, fifth printing hardcover copy of The Survival of the Wisest by Jonas Salk (Harper & Row, 1973). This copy printed in 1977. Very rare and iconic work of social theory and philosophy regarding a seismic shift in the evolution of man now that many primal needs have been satisfied due to education and development - what used to be survival of the fittest, now appears to be shifting to the survival of the wisest. Jacket is protected in new archival sleeve but with some mild rubbing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges. Boards straight and clean but with corners bumped. Small tear to cloth wrapped spine to spine near bottom of book and back cover. Binding is firm and spine is straight. All pages are clean and unmarked though faintly tanned. See photos for condition.
